Persona 5: The Phantom X – Best Fox/Yusuke build, team comp, and Revelation Cards
By Ryan Woodrow

Fox is one of the more interesting units in P5X. He has a strange mix of behaviours, being officially classed as a Sweeper but acting more like a Tank. His impressive offensive abilities rely on him having strong defenses and drawing the enemy’s focus away from his allies, which makes building him a tough balancing act.
We’ll break down everything you need to know about Fox to can get the most out of his abilities, explaining what he does, the best weapons, Revelation Cards, and teammates to assign to him, and going into detail about how to use him in battle. What do Inspiration and Imagination do?
Inspiration and Imagination are the abilities that determine the frequency with which Fox counterattacks enemies. He is set to Inspiration by default, which holds a 65% chance for a counterattack whenever he’s attacked, but using his Keen Eye ability trades it for Imagination, which grants Fox a 100% chance to counterattack.
How to use Fox in P5X
Taunt enemies
While he is listed as a Sweeper, Fox really acts more like a Tank unit, and you should treat him as such. Fox is able to Taunt his foes, drawing their attention and making sure they strike him, which is essential to unleashing the full potential of his Counterattack abilities.
Fill him with shields
Fox performs at his best when he has just gained shields, as it activates both his hidden abilities and powers up his Bone-Chilling Cold attack. Plus, since the point of Fox is to taunt enemies into attacking him, shields will help him endure a lot more damage.
Use Keen Eye regularly
Given Fox has only a 65% chance to counter, it can’t always be relied upon to whittle down an enemy, which is why you should never neglect using Keen Eye to increase that chance to 100%. This goes double when you’re in boss encounters that only have one main opponent, as you can easily Taunt them before guaranteeing you’ll bite back with a counter.
Best team composition for Fox in P5X
We recommend the following team to build Fox around:
- Wonder (with your best healing & Defense-buffing Personas)
- Fox
- Mont
- Yuki
- Puppet (Navi)
Mont is a great offensive ally for Fox as they grant each other the 10% Harmony damage boost as they both use the Ice element. On top of that, Mont is much better at inflicting Freeze on enemies than Fox, which will help minimize the damage Fox takes when Taunting foes. Yuki is there to constantly pour shields and Defense buffs onto Fox, which will, in turn, buff Yuki’s offensive abilities when the time is ready to strike.
Wonder should have healing and Defense-buffing Personas on standby. The Defense-buffing is self-explanatory, but given that Fox’s strategies center around him taking damage, having some healing on hand is always going to be useful. Then, Puppet is the easy Navi option, as all of her skills center around granting shields to her allies, which buff Fox’s skills while keeping him alive.
Best weapon for Fox in P5X
Fox’s best weapon is the Shadow Killer, which has the following effect: Increases Defense by 45%. At the start of battle, increase counterattack damage by 30%. After gaining a shield, gain 1 Blade Spirit stack. Increase counterattack damage by 2% per stack. At 6 stacks, increase counterattack damage by 30%. This effect is permanent.
Best Revelation Cards for Fox in P5X
As we explain in our guide to the best Revelation Cards for each character in P5X, Fox’s best card combo is Peace and Faith, though he does have a good backup option in Opulence and Growth. The Peace and Faith combo is centered around buffing Fox’s Defensive options, which will, in turn, boost his offense, as it creates a snowball effect where every time he gains shields, his Defense gets a boost, which will make his attacks more powerful as all of Fox’s skills deal damage based on his Defense. Opulence and Growth is a more outright offensive combo, increasing Ice and Resonance damage across the board.
