World of Warcraft has been around for a long, long time. It was a cutting edge MMORPG that completely dominated the scene and still does to this day. It is a testament to the brilliance of Blizzard and their ability to adapt and evolve.
Despite every iteration or expansion, new articles pop up about the "death" of WoW and they may be correct about the dwindling player base, it's still one of the most popular games of all time. Even after a decade or more.
People remember Vanilla WoW, Burning Crusade, or Wrath of the Lich King very fondly and vividly. Now that many older players have grown up, they decided to keep at the game that brought them countless hours of entertainment.
While not the same game anymore, they still come back to test out the game and try the new events because they miss the feeling of raiding with others and questing with their Guild. It's truly an unforgettable feeling.

4. Legion Expansion
The Legion expansion for World of Warcraft actually turned out to be way better than anyone expected. After three subpar expansions after Wrath of the Lich King, people finally got a good, content packed expansion with many interesting and engaging activities and fights.
The raiding is improved, the class systems have been enhanced and there is just so much more to do in this new expansion that it's well worth the money.

3. The Actual World of Warcraft
The actual world of Azeroth is huge, beautiful, and absolutely packed with things to do and sights to see. Many people love to sit at their AFK spots for hours on end because the world is just that darn beautiful.
From the Elwynn Forest to the Outlands, everything about the World of Warcraft just looks great, even to this day. Blizzard has done an excellent job of expanding and diversifying the world around you. Every expansion brings something new to explore as well as a call back to an iconic place on the map.

2. The Lore and Story
The lore and stories in the expansions of World of Warcraft are grand in scale and are absolutely incredible. From the betrayal of Queen Azshara and her people, to the fight between Thrall and Garrosh Hellscream, The World of Warcraft's story and lore is anything but boring.
Fight your way through Old Gods and even save the world from an Undead Lich King. The lore is a huge reason why people continue to play this game to this day.

1. It's Too Big and Too Popular
The World of Warcraft is one of a kind. It is the single biggest MMORPG even to this day. While Blizzard isn't telling us the subscriber count anymore, let it be known that World of Warcraft still numbers in the millions of subscribers.
Due to the sheer amount of players in a social game that requires you to team up with others in order to do your best, World of Warcraft is just ultimately more suited to be played by absolutely everyone than any other MMORPG.
MMORPG's can launch and call themselves "WoW killers" but let's be real here, no one will dethrone World of Warcraft until Blizzard either royally messes up or they end the series. It's too big of a game and too easy to get into.
