ESL One New York 2017 is right around the corner and is poised to bring us more great moments in CS:GO history. So, why not take a look back at ESL One New York 2016 and reminisce about the seven best moments from the event.

The event last year saw some great moments and eventually crowned one champion after thrilling matches from beginning to end.

1. Janusz "snax" Pogorzelski 1v3 Grand Finals

A crazy moment in a crazy Grand Finals match between Natus Vincere and Virtus.pro. Janusz "snax" Pogorzelski clutched up and was able to secure the 1v3 and get the round win after all hope seemed lost for Virtus.pro.

2. Sasha "s1mpleO" Kostyliev Making it Look Easy

This play by Sasha "s1mple" Kostyliev of Natus Vincere making a three piece look as easy as making a bowl of cereal or buttering toast. Being the last one alive and without much health, he was able to take down three players from Team Liquid.

3. Virtus.pro Upsets World Champions

The semifinals saw very competitive fixtures between the four sides. But, Virtus.pro, the longstanding roster from Poland showed they still have it by upsetting the then World Champions, SK Gaming.

4. The Fans

ESL One New York showed last year that the fans are what makes these events so memorable. Every play, every moment elicited cheers and groans from the crowd as their true fandom showed for the teams they supported at the event. Whether they were fans of the teams or just fans of competitive CS:GO, the crowd was loud and showed it throughout the tournament.

5. Intense Action and Great Plays

The entire weekend saw some great plays by the players. From Team Liquid's Jonathan "EliGe" Jablonowski's play against Fnatic to SK Gaming's Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo's 4K against Astralis. The quality of play at ESL One New York 2016 was top tier.

These moments were legendary.

6. Ninja Defuse to Win ESL One New York

There is probably no better play to win a championship than by ninja defusing the bomb while most of the other team is still alive. Natus Vincere did just that as they beat Virtus.pro in the final game to take home the trophy.

Providing a tactical cover with a smoke grenade, Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovacs was able to sneak in and defuse the bomb and secure the event win.

7. ESL One New York 2016

The final moment on this list is the event itself. From the fans to the quality of play from the competitors, the event was just pure fun and joy. The city of New York was able to host a quality event and the fans made their voices heard during each and every match.

The event last year was one for the ages and there is no doubt in my mind that ESL One New York 2017 will be able to top that and then some. The event begins this weekend from September 16-17. Natus Vincere will be looking to defend their crown, but some familiar challengers will be taking aim to topple them. Be sure to tune in for some great CS:GO action!
