ESL has officially announced the dates for their open and closed qualifier dates for the 2018 Katowice Major. This is the first Dota 2 Major tournament Poland has ever hosted. 16 teams will battle off for a large prize pool of cash and circuit points for The Invitational 2018.

The first stage of the qualifying process will begin on Saturday, Jan. 6 and Sunday, Jan. 7, just after the new year. Teams across the world will have the opportunity to register their team for the open qualifiers. If you think you can challenge the best teams in the world, be sure to follow their Twitter and Facebook page to keep yourself updated with all the news and information you need.

The top Dota 2 teams will be participating in the closed qualifiers with direct invites from ESL. Teams across the world will compete in the close qualifying matches that will take place from Jan. 9 through the 12 in order to qualify for Katowice in late February.

The prize pool for Katowice is huge and is supported by Valve themselves. The team that claims first place will receive a hefty amount of $1,000,000 and 1,500 DCP for The Invitation 2018. The circuit points alone make this major extremely important if they want to make it to the biggest Dota 2 competition of the year.
