Houston Outlaws' Austin "Muma" Wilmot woke up to death threats on Sunday; he revealed this on his Twitter.
Waking up to death threats sure is zany so I'm closing my dms. I still love you all though.— Austin Wilmot (@Muma) February 11, 2018
In response, Muma stated that he will not be allowing anyone else to direct message him on Twitter.
Unfortunate that I was forced under a spotlight not for my gameplay but for my sexuality but what can you do. Still gonna win OWL 😎— Austin Wilmot (@Muma) February 11, 2018
The death threats were directed to Muma because of his sexuality. Muma is known for his awesome tank play, and for being the only openly gay Overwatch League player. This isn't the first time that he has been attacked for his sexuality. On stream, Félix "xQc" Lengyel attacked Muma openly in January. The homophobic comments by xQc were rightfully punished by both the Dallas Fuel and the Overwatch League.
Muma continues to maintain a positive attitude throughout the recent discrimination he has been facing. The Houston Outlaws recently finished third in the Overwatch League Stage 1 Playoffs.
