The Florida Mayhem took to Twitter Monday to announce the addition of the newest member of its coaching staff, Assistant Coach Hyun-JIn "r2der" Choi. R2der will join the team beginning in Stage 2.

Originally a player for Kongdoo Panthera in APEX OGN Season 1, r2der has since coached for Korean teams Newbee.Y, and Meta Athena, the latter from which he departed in favor of the offer from the Mayhem.

In a press release accompanying the announcement, Head Coach Vytis “Mineral” Lasaitis extolled r2der's virtues, saying, "Coach r2dr brings a wealth of experience to the team, having played and coached Overwatch professionally for MiG Frost, Kongdoo Panthera, Newbee and most recently Meta Athena."

Mineral specifically cited r2der's experience both as a player and a coach as valuable assets for the team. Mineral also noted that "[R2der] brings an eastern perspective on the game, which will be invaluable as we continue to widen our horizons."

The Florida Mayhem struggled in Stage 1, partially due to being limited to having just six players on the roster. In addition to adding r2der to the coaching staff, Florida Mayhem has also announced that three new players will be joining the squad for Stage 2.
