Even though it was a more packed summer than usual, the lull of releases is over, and we’re heading into September with a huge lineup of great games on the horizon, and it’s just going to get wilder the deeper we get into the year. This month sees some long-awaited titles finally make their debut alongside a couple of highly anticipated DLCs, and of course, there are always a few smaller titles that are worth your time between the giants.

We’ll break down all of the biggest games releasing in September 2025 so you don’t miss any of it.

Hirogami – September 3

A papercraft world being explored by a pink origami armadillo.
Hirogami / Kakehashi Games

Platforms: PC, PS5

Starting off with something a little smaller, Hirogami is a 3D action-platformer where you’ll be navigating through a papercraft world as a hero made of origami. It features the ability to fold yourself into various different creatures to complete the many challenges the game will throw your way, and it looks absolutely beautiful.

Hollow Knight: Silksong – September 4

Hornet fighting three bugs.
Hollow Knight: Silksong / Team Cherry

Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S

Well, you have to give it to Team Cherry, it knows exactly what it has on its hands, giving us radio silence for seven years, then showing up and telling us the game is out in just two weeks. It’s arguably second only to GTA 6 in terms of hype for an upcoming release, and it is so close now that we can taste it.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: Order of Giants DLC – September 4

Bethesda
Indana Jones and the Great Circle: Order of Giants / Indiana Jones standing in a cave holding a torch looking up at an angel statue.

Platforms: PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S

One of the smash hits of last year is coming back with its new DLC. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle came out last December and blew everyone away with its fun action and puzzle-solving gameplay that made it feel like a proper classic Indy adventure. We’re in for more now as we get to explore the secrets of Rome, as we uncover more about the mysterious giants from the main game.

Hell Is Us – September 4

A hooded man slashing a strange monster with a long sword as a drone hovers above them.
Hell Is Us / Nacon

Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S

This one has flown under the radar a bit, but soulslike fans might find it interesting, as it’s a slow-paced, combat-focused action RPG that prides itself on its unforgiving world. It mixes supernatural creatures with some sci-fi elements in a post-apocalyptic world where you have to fight hard just to survive.

Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion – September 5

A large mech flying through the sky over a barren land.
Daemon X Machina: Titanic Scion / Marvelous Games

Platforms: PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S

It’s time for more frantic mech battles in this sequel to the 2019 Switch exclusive, only now it’s coming to all current-gen platforms, and the scope is bigger. The main selling point this time around is that it has up to three-player co-op, so you can challenge the game’s huge bosses with friends as you build your arsenal of mechs.

NBA 2K26 – September 5

A basketball player.
NBA 2K26 / 2K Games

Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S

We’re still in the season of sport game releases, and NBA is the next to take to the court, with NBA 2K26 coming out on September 5, though if you buy the deluxe edition, you can get access right now.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2: Legacy of the Forge DLC – September 9

A man looking at a piece of metal in front of an anvil.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2: Legacy of the Forge / Deep Silver.

Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S

Another DLC for a big hit of a game from several months ago, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 did a great job of bringing a more realistic approach to open-world RPGs, set in a realistic historical setting instead of fantasy. To that end, the Legacy of the Forge DLC focuses more on Henry’s natural craft: Smithing, although there’s sure to be an adventure in store alongside it.

Borderlands 4 – September 12

Four people standing formation firing out massive guns.
Borderlands 4 / 2K Games

Platforms: PC, PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S

Borderlands is back, and it promises to have plenty of what fans of the series like, though hopefully it will have a little more innovation than the previous entry. Either way, it’s a fun world with loot-shooter gameplay that you don’t see all that often anymore, and that seems to be a very comfortable niche for the series to fit into.

Lego Voyagers – September 15

An island made of lego with two little houses on it.
Lego Voyagers / Annapurna Interactive

Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S

This game wasn’t revealed all that long ago, but after seeing its features at Gamescom, it looks to be a dark horse hit of the year. This is a co-op-only puzzle-platformer where you play as two little Lego bricks who dream of going to space, and to get there, you’ll need to assemble bricks in a variety of ways to reach the stars. If you’re looking for something shorter and cozier, this is your best bet.

Dying Light: The Beast – September 19

Zombies walking through a street, reaching up for a corpse hanging from above.
Dying Light: The Beast / Techland

Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S

The more the Dying Light series goes on, the less it’s about using parkour to avoid zombies, and the more it’s about smashing those zombies in the face. Whether that’s a good thing or not is up to you, but Dying Light: The Beast allows you to do both, jumping from rooftops to explore the open world (with up to three friends), and going into Beast Mode to smash some undead to bits.

Slime Rancher 2 – September 23

A slime with cat ears and a slime wiht bunny ears in some ruins.
Slime Rancher 2 / Monomi Park

Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S

After roughly a couple of years in early access, the sequel to indie hit Slime Rancher is officially hitting 1.0 on PC and releasing on both PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. This sequel has a whole new set of islands to explore with new slime types, foods to farm, and secrets to uncover as you dive deeper into the game’s mysteries and keep your slimes happy and producing profits.

Silent Hill f – September 25

A school girl with blood on her clothes kneeling down in a field of red flowers and roots.
Silent Hill f / Konami

Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S

It’s been a long time coming for the latest fully new entry in the Silent Hill series, but Silent Hill f has all the signs pointing in the right direction for this to be a great survival horror that capitalizes in the renewed interest in the series Silent Hill 2 Remake established. Playing as a Japanese school girl has never been so terrifying as you face your classmates and tormentors twisted into horrific monsters.

Sonic Racing: Crossworlds – September 25

Sonic in a racecar, gliding through the air.
Sonic Racing Crossworlds / Sega

Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S

While most Sonic racing games have been relatively underwhelming, Crossworlds might finally be the one to buck that trend, looking like an action-packed kart racer. It’s attracted a lot of attention thanks to its weird and wild crossover characters that will be added post-launch, including Joker from Persona 5, SpongeBob SquarePants, Minecraft Steve, and Hatsune Miku. Smash Bros eat your heart out, I guess.

EA Sports FC 26 – September 26

A Bayern Munich player barges through two Manchester City players to get to the ball.
EA Sports FC 26 / Electronic Arts

Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S

More sports. You already know if you want this or not, we’re not going to try to sell you.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles – September 30

Various units on a small battlefield.
Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles / Square Enix

Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X/S

The remaster of the original Final Fantasy Tactics is dropping at the end of the month, giving you the option to play the game the classic way or with updated graphics and mechanics. While the updated graphics aren’t the best, especially compared to spiritual successors like Triangle Strategy, the updated gameplay options should be good for modern players, allowing them to make the game easier if they wish.
