Like any game that lets you customize your appearance, it’s perfectly understandable to want to spend ages in The Outer Worlds 2’s creator editing every detail of your virtual avatar so it looks just how you want it for your adventure. However, over the course of a long RPG, you might change your mind about certain things or just want to make a change up every now and then, but you might not be sure if it’s possible in this game.

Plus, it’s annoying to spend so long making such a detailed character only to have to cover up their face with a helmet, so we’ll explain how to hide that.

Unfortunately, no, you can’t change your appearance, so whatever you leave the character creator with at the start of the game is what you’ll look like for your entire adventure, so make sure you’re happy with it. Thankfully, it’s different for hiding your helmet, though.

If you don’t want to hide your character’s beautiful face, you can go into the settings menu and under “Gameplay”, you’ll find the toggle for “Show Player Helmet”. Simply switch that to hide, and your character’s face will now be on full display while still giving you the benefits of whatever helmet you have equipped. There’s also an option for you to toggle your companion’s helmets on too, in case you’d also like to see more of their faces.
