ARC Raiders crossplay guide: How to add and play with friends

ARC Raiders is out now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and like any good multiplayer game, it has full crossplay across all of its platforms. This means that you can party up with friends playing on PlayStation, even if you’re on Xbox or PC, or vice versa — and you’ll face off against players on other platforms, too, in the wilderness. 

In this guide we’ll go over how to add friends from other platforms in ARC Raiders, as well as how to play with those friends and how to turn off crossplay.

ARC Raiders crossplay: How to add friends 

If you want to add your friends from other platforms in ARC Raiders, you’ll need to know what your friend’s Embark username is. This is set up when you create your Embark account, either the first time you open ARC Raiders or if you played The Finals previously. You can also find it on the social tab in the menu. 

An Embark username will be the selected username as well as a 4-digit discriminator, like Username#1234. This is separate from the platform username, such as your Xbox Gamer Tag, PlayStation ID, or Steam username. 

Once you have your friend’s Embark username, open up the social panel by pressing the options/start button on the main screen, as shown above, then press the Add Friend button. 

Enter your friend’s Embark username and discriminator, making sure to include the # symbol in between, and accept to send them an invite. Your friend will then need to accept the invite from the same menu, though if they’re in-game when you send the invite, they’ll receive a popup for easy access as well. 

ARC Raiders crossplay: How to play with friends on other platforms 

Once you’ve added your friend, adding them to your game is as simple as pressing the plus button next to your icon above the Play button. Select your friend from the list and send them an invite to join your game. Once they accept, simply press the big Play button to start playing together. 

ARC Raiders: How to turn off crossplay 

There might be instances where you want to turn off crossplay, for whatever reason. This is fairly simple to do, thankfully, and you can turn it off and on as you’d like. 

Open up the menu, then press the Settings button. On the Gameplay tab in the settings, scroll down to Crossplay and toggle it on or off as needed. You can’t do this while you’re actively matchmaking or while in a game, but it’s freely available at all other times.
