Assassin's Creed Shadows DLC: Dismantling One by One guide
By Ryan Woodrow

Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ Claws of Awaji DLC has mostly straightforward quests, but there’s one that can be a real pain. One of the main targets you’ll need to take down is Tomeji, the bulky, powerhouse bodyguard of Kimura Yuakri. While you can technically go there and fight him right away, if you do, you’ll also be facing off against all 14 of his powerful captains, which is not a fight you can realistically win.
To weaken Tomeji, you can find his captains out in the world and take them out one by one, but this can be a real challenge, as you unlock other targets in the game, they don’t have fixed locations. Instead, they have a random chance of spawning when you perform certain actions.
We’ll explain he best ways to get the captains to spawn for the Dismantling One by One quest in AC Shadows: Claws of Awaji, and let you know one little trick that can make the whole thing a lot easier.
How to make Tomeji’s captains spawn – AC Shadows DLC
While the captains do randomly patrol certain areas of the map, you’ll likely only stumble across one or two this way while exploring. There are two main ways to get captains to spawn.
The first is by helping civilians. Occasionally, as you roam, you’ll find a civilian captured by some guards or seeking aid. If you provide said aid, there is a chance they will reveal a captain’s location. However, it is only a chance, as they might instead give you the location of a chest or activity you haven’t yet discovered.
Second is by fighting guards out on the streets. If you get into some scraped and alert guards to your presence, there is again a chance that one of them will call for a captain’s aid. When they do this, a warhorn will sound and a captain – or sometimes even two – will enter the battle with he entourage of guards.
However, there is a third way that will not only make the captains spawn but mark them on your map, and that is by going into gameplay options and turning on guided exploration mode. This will show you the locations of each captain without needing to go through all the trouble of hunting them down. While it may feel a little cheaty, we think the normal requirements are so tedious and unreasonable that it’s fine for this one task.
