Battlefield 6 best console graphics mode: Balanced vs Performance 120Hz
By Dave Aubrey

Battlefield 6 is out now on Xbox Series consoles, PS5 consoles, and PC, allowing players globally to jump into the battle with massive games filled with explosions and mayhem. If this sounds like something you want to get involved with, then you should down the game, but before you play, you should ensure you’re using the best possible graphics mode and setting combination.
Battlefield 6 has two distinct graphics modes on console, in addition to a few other settings you need to adjust no matter which platform you’re on. Follow the instructions in this guide and we’ll break down the settings you need to tweak, and the best graphics mode to play in for your set up on every console.
Battlefield 6 graphics modes
Battlefield 6 settings you need to change
On all platforms – that includes PC – you should pop into the graphics menu and change the follow settings:
- Reduce Sprint Camera Bobbing: On
- Chromatic Aberration: Off
- Vignette: Off
- Film Grain: Off
The Reduce Sprint Camera Bobbing option is according to taste – though we recommend to turn it off – and the others should definitely be switched off. Those three each make finer details harder to spot, especially in your peripheral vision, and if you want a competitive experience, they should remain off.
Balanced mode breakdown – Battlefield 6
Balanced mode upscales a roughly 1440p internal image to 4K on PS5 and Xbox Series X, with the PS5 Pro sticking to the higher end of the resolution scale as you would expect. Graphical quality looks very nice in this mode and aims for 60fps, though doesn’t boast any fancy features like ray tracing.
If you have an older TV that only supports up to 60Hz, then Balanced mode is perfect for you.
120Hz Performance mode breakdown – Battlefield 6
This mode is only available to players with a 120Hz display, and honestly, we only recommend this mode if you have VRR enabled. Battlefield 6 in its Performance mode doesn’t drastically change its visual targets, and simply lets the game run above the 60fps cap.
If you’re looking for the smoothest possible gameplay with the lowest possible latency, Performance mode is for you, but you’ll need a 120Hz display, and VRR to truly enjoy it.
Best Battlefield 6 graphics mode per console – Battlefield 6
Ultimately, the breakdown is this: if you have an Xbox Series X, PS5, or PS5 Pro attached to a 120Hz, VRR display, then you should use the Performance mode.
If you are using any of the above consoles but are using an older display that lacks 120Hz or VRR features, you should use the Balanced mode.
If you are playing on Xbox Series S, then sadly you will not have a graphics mode toggle available, though the game will target 60fps at all times still.
