Digimon Story: Time Stranger, like any good RPG, is filled with dozens of side quests. Most of these side quests are fairly straightforward, asking you to go to a specific place and often defeat a Digimon or two, or collect an item, but one late-game quest featuring a displaced MarineAngemon isn’t quite so straightforward, and if you don’t know where to go, you could end up wasting a lot of time.

The quest is called I Don’t Belong Anywhere Yet, and we’ve put together this handy guide to help you find the precious, clean seawater MarineAngemon desires, including where to find MarineAngemon’s seawater and how to complete the quest.

I Don’t Belong Anywhere Yet quest guide – Digimon Story: Time Stranger

I Don’t Belong Anywhere Yet is a quest given to you via your Digiline at a certain point in the story, and asks you to visit a MarineAngemon in the Warriors’ Watering Hole who is having trouble finding an audience for their singing. MarineAngemon is also homesick, and gives you a bottle to fill with clean water from their home, the Abyss Area.

If you head to the Abyss Area, you’ll find a host of different locations where you can collect water with the bottle. Unfortunately, most of the water in this area is not suitable for MarineAngemon — it’s infested with creatures like Numemon and Raremon, tainting the surrounding waters. Filling your bottle with water from these spots will result in a dialog box telling you that you collected “funky” water, and if you bring that back to MarineAngemon they will promptly reject it.

You’ll need to collect water from a very specific location to satisfy MarineAngemon’s desires, which you can find the details of below.

MarineAngemon’s water location – Digimon Story: Time Stranger

The water you need to collect is located on the far side of the Abyss Area, but not in the deep ocean below. The screenshot below shows the location in the overworld and on the overlaid map — it’s located in the north-west of the lower floor of the map in the Abyss Surface zone, near where the other water collection spots are located.

You’ll be able to see the sparkling of an interactable item from a distance, and notably there are no Numemon or Raremon near it, indicating the water there hasn’t been tainted yet.

If your bottle is already full of funky water, you don’t have to deliver it to MarineAngemon to clear the bottle — instead, simply head to the right area as described above, then interact with the clean water. The game will offer you the opportunity to tip out the old water and refill it with the new water.

When you take the clean water back to MarineAngemon, they won’t be entirely happy with it, but that’s okay. Continue talking to them – it doesn’t matter much which answers you pick – and follow them back to the Abyss Area to finish off the quest.
