Hades 2: How to get Star Dust
By Ryan Woodrow

Star Dust is a somewhat elusive resource in Hades 2, but a necessary one, as you’ll need to get your hands on quite a bit of it if you want to get the most out of your Animal Familiars in Hades 2. There are a few recipes that require Star Dust, but the most important is the one that allows you to make Witch’s Treats, which let you tame more familiars and upgrade their abilities.
We’ll explain how to get Star Dust so you can make your cute pets more powerful than ever before.
How to get Star Dust – Hades 2
The main way to get Star Dust is via the Pitch-Black Stone and the Chaos Trials it offers.
To unlock the Pitch Black Stone, you first need to enter the Realm of Chaos during a run three times and successfully outlast Chaos’s curses to receive their blessings. After three times, talking to Chaos again will unlock the “Abyssal Insight” incantation, which requires:
- 2 Moly
- 2 Nightshade
- 2 Fate Fabric
- 2 Pearls
Moly and Nightshade are both easy to get. Moly is the flower that spawns in Erebus, and Nightshade is grown from the seeds you get from Erebus digsites. If you don’t already have them for this recipe, one simple run into Erebus will fill your stocks. You’ll have to check our guide on how to get Fate Fabric in Hades 2 for all the different ways you can get this material. Finally, Pearls are obtained by defeating the Sirens, the bosses of Oceanus.
Completing this incantation will unlock the Pitch Black Stone, which offers Chaos Trials, with each trial offering 1 Star Dust as a reward. You’ll unlock new trials as you unlock new Keepsakes, Tarot Cards, and Weapon Aspects, so keep working towards those, and you’ll get plenty of new trials to beat for Star Dust.
There are a few other ways to get Star Dust, though these are less reliable. Firstly, there is the Fates Prophecy, “Awakened Aspects”, which will grant you 3 Star Dust for getting any Aspect of Night for any weapon to Rank 5.
Finally, once you get into the late game, Star Dust will be unlocked as a purchasable item from the Wretched Broker, though it’s very expensive, at 600 Bones for 1 Star Dust.
