Hollow Knight: Silksong – How to break webs

One of the first major obstacles you’ll need to overcome in Hollow Knight: Silksong are the strands of silk web that block your path in a few different locations. You’ll likely encounter them for the first time when discovering the Bell Beast, who is your key to fast travel in Silksong, but they’re tricky. You can snap strands with a few attacks, but then regenerate after a few seconds, meaning you can’t get through.

How to break webs – HK: Silksong

As you might expect from a metroidvania game such as this, to break the webs, you’ll need to unlock a new ability, the Silkspear.

From where you find the Bell Beast, go in the opposite direction and you’ll navigate through a section of Mosshold, first across a long room, then upwards to a mini-peak, fighting your way through various mossy enemies along the way. Once you reach the top of this room you’ll find an alter that you can Bind at, which will unlock the Silkspear ability.

This ability causes you to unleash a powerful attack horizontally that will instantly clear all of the web blocking your path, and it won’t regenerate this time. It costs three rolls of silk though, so don’t go around spamming it.
