Hollow Knight: Silksong – How to navigate The Mist

Whether you’re tackling it on your way to Act 2 or later in the game, The Mist is one of Hollow Knight: Silksong’s most confusing locations. As a sub-area that you’ll find either in Sinner’s Road or Bilewater, depending on which side you approach from, The Mist is a lot like the Lost Woods from Zelda: Ocarina of Time, where every room has multiple exits, and taking the wrong one will lead to you being sent back to the start.

We’ll explain how to work out which exit is the right one in each room, so you can make it through to what lies on the other side.

How to navigate The Mist – HK: Silksong

The key to finding the right exit to each room in The Mist lies with the glowing moths you can find floating about each room. If you haven’t already, you need to go to Bellhart to defeat Widow and unlock the Needolin ability. Once you have this, stand next to these glowing moths and play the Needolin. After a few seconds, the moths will react and flutter towards the correct exit.

Do this about 5 or 6 times, and eventually you’ll find the exit, which will lead you into another sub-area called Exhaust Organ. Pop inside, jump up the first shaft, and head to the left to find a bench so you can respawn here without having to go through The Mist again.
