Hollow Knight: Silksong – How to unlock gliding with the Drifter's Cloak

One of the most useful and essential moves you need to learn to progress in Hollow Knight: Silksong is gliding. This will let Hornet easily cross large gaps as well as ride shafts of wind high into the air, which will aid you as you climb the mountain. This ability is found relatively early on, but the place you get it is a little out of the way, and you need to jump through a few hoops to get the upgrade.

How to unlock gliding – HK: Silksong
The item you need to glide is the Drifter’s Cloak, and you obtain it from the Seamstress in Far Fields. As you progress through the area (which is east of Deep Docks, past the first Lace fight) you’ll find a room with a balloon floating over a lava pit. Climb up and head inside to talk to the Seamstress – there’s also a bench there if you need a rest.

Once you have them, bring them back, watch a small cutscene, and you’ll unlock the Drifter’s Cloak. As the tutorial explains, simply press the jump button in mid-air to open the cloak and begin a glide. If you do so in a shaft of air, you’ll get blown up to the top of it.
