Hollow Knight: Silksong – White Key location to unlock Whiteward

After you’ve first explored the Citadel in Act 2 of Hollow Knight: Silksong, you’ll find that you’re running out of places to go, as all the ways upwards require the Clawline (grappling hook) ability. That’s because the way forward is actually down, but in order to get there, you’ll need to unlock the lift that takes you there, which requires the White Key, which is hidden somewhere in the Citadel.

We’ll explain where to find the White Key so you can move forward to Whiteward.

White Key location – HK: Silksong

The White Key is found on the eastern edge of Songclave, which is the small town that appears around The First Temple in the northeast corner of the Citadel after you first ring the bell there. If you walk past the entrance to the temple and all the way to the end, where your way is blocked by the fence, the White Key is lying on the ground there.

Pick it up, and then head back down to the bottom of the Citadel, where you’ll find the lift, unlock it, and be taken down into Whiteward, a small area that serves as the path through to the eastern half of the Underworks, which is where you unlock the grappling hook ability that allows you to progress.
