Indiana Jones Great Circle DLC: Shrine ball maze puzzle solution

How to solve the Shrine puzzle where you guide a ball through a maze in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle's Order of Giants DLC

The Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Order of Giants DLC has just as many fun and interesting puzzles as the base game, and the puzzle you encounter in the Shrine under Cloaca Maxima is one of the best examples of this. In a puzzle straight out of the Crystal Maze, you’ll need to guide a rolling ball around a maze, stopping it from falling into pits and guiding it to four key points.

We’ll break down how this puzzle works and give you a step-by-step guide to the solution.

How the Shrine ball maze puzzle works – IJGC DLC

A room with one big statue in the middle with four smaller ones around it. They are labelled with numbers.

Before you can start, you need to climb up the wall on the right hand side as you enter the shrine to pick up the broken section of the sword. Slot it into the hilt of the big statue in the center and you’ll be able to use your whip to pull the lever and release the ball.

Your goal is to get the ball through the four statues in the correct order. You can find the order by climbing up the walls on the side, which show an image of each statue with a number below it. We’ve shown the order in the screenshot below for easy reference, though.

Once the ball starts rolling, you’ll need to move the little gutter runs about to cover the gaps and direct the ball where you want it to go. We’ll break down each step you need to take.

For the purposes of this guide, we’ll be taking the far wall as you enter (the one that has the big pillar against it) as the “top” of the room.

Leave the first curved gutter pointing to the left, with the straight-line gutter going upwards. Let the ball roll and once it’s gone past the straight gutter, rotate it 90 degrees and put it back in the same slot.

Once the ball passes over the straight gutter the second time, pick it up and place it over the next pit in the same orientation. This will direct the ball into the first statue.

Once it’s over the gutter, pick it up again and place it heading downwards as the ball comes out of the back of the first statue.

When it crosses over the gutter, pick up that straight gutter one last time (you won’t need it after this) and place it over the next pit heading down. This will let the ball roll right into the second statue, giving you some time to set up the next bit.

Go to the curved gutter you placed at the start of the puzzle and rotate it 180 degrees, so it connects the bottom and right channels that come out the back of the second statue. Then grab the second curved gutter and place it over the next pit, intaking from the left, and directing the ball out the top.

You’ll have to do this next step quite quickly, as it requires two moves with not much time. Once the ball passes over the first curved gutter, pick it up and place it over the next pit, curving from the right channel to the top. Then, run back and grab the second gutter once the ball is past that and place it over the pit right next to the one you just covered, going from the left to the top. This will get the ball to the third statue.

You’ll have a bit of time for this next step. Take the first curved gutter and place it over the pit coming out of the third statue, from the top channel to the right. Then rotate the second curved gutter 90 degrees, so it intakes from the bottom and releases to the left.

Once the ball comes out of the third statue and crosses over the first curved gutter, rotate it so it intakes from the bottom and releases to the left, as the ball will go around a small loop and then come back. When it crosses over a second time, pick up that first gutter and move it back to where it was two steps ago, next to the other curved gutter. Orient it so it runs from he top to the left channel.

With that complex bit out of the way, all you need to do now is pick up one of the curved gutters and place it over the next pit along the track, running from the top channel to the left. This will put the ball into the fourth statue and complete the puzzle. The pillar at the top of the room will lower, and you can take the Cylinder Piece.
