Kingdom Come 2 Chiaroscuro guide - Black cockerel egg and Toad nest locations

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s Brushes with Death DLC comes with a whole new questline featuring Voyta, an established painter. This quest in the Trosky region has Voyta seeking a precious new pigment for his paintings, and he has hopes that a Basilisk Egg will do the trick.

Of course, a Basilisk isn’t a real creature, and instead, Henry will have to create one via an unusual ritual that will require the egg of a black cockerel and a toad’s nest. In this guide, we’re breaking down full locations for both so you can complete the Chiaroscuro quest quickly in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

Black cockerel egg location – KCD2

The black cockerel became a local legend in Lower Semine, so much so that Farmer Slavek got spooked and had the poor creature put down, believing that its ability to lay eggs was the work of the devil. 

Move to the forest’s edge just South of Lower Semine and you’ll find the corpse of the black cockerel in a dung head, along with one of its eggs nearby.

Toad’s nest location – KCD2

Now that you have the black cockerel egg, it’s time to have a toad brood it so it can become a basilisk egg. All you have to do is find a Toad’s Nest and leave the egg inside overnight.

You can find the Toad’s Nest just Southwest of Zhelejov Wagoners’ Inn. Stick close to the East cliff wall when wading into the swamp, follow the sounds of toads, and you’ll find the nest just below a dead tree.

Once you pass enough time, retrieve the egg and you can return to Voyta.
