It just wouldn’t be a Bethesda RPG without some good old-fashioned bugs, and The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered is no stranger to them. One of the most common players are encountering is the “Charge the Courtyard” glitch, which occurs during the Battle of Kvash quest.

When you open the castle gates and allow the Imperial Guard into the courtyard, you have to face a huge wave of enemies all at once. Succeed, and you’re prompted to talk to Savlian Matius to get your instructions for the remainder of the quest, but he won’t do it; instead continuously bellowing the “charge the courtyard” command.

We’ll explain how to work around this glitch and continue the quest.

To fix the glitch, just leave Savlian behind and continue the quest by heading into the castle yourself. You’ll have to fight a bunch more atronachs and Oblivion monsters, but your goal is to head to the main bed chamber all the way at the back of the castle and find the Count, who is unfortunately dead.

Pick up the Count’s ring from his body and the quest will be forced to move forward, giving you a new journal entry. Now, when you return to Savlian, he will have the correct dialogue, thanking you for your help and finishing the quest.
