Being a poor adventurer out here in a fantasy economy isn’t easy. There are all sorts of costs for equipment that come with adventuring, not to mention the 12 different Oblivion Remastered player homes you can buy. Thankfully, the digital world has solutions to a lack of funds that the real one does not, and The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered has one of the most useful.

There is a glitch that is relatively easy to perform which will allow you to duplicate just about any item you desire, letting you repeatedly sell those items for unlimited cash. We’ll explain how to do it.

This glitch is much easier on controller. So, even if you’re a PC player, plug a controller in if you want to perform this glitch.

The first step is to find a container. It can be a chest, barrel, or even a dead body works as long as you can store items in it. We recommend something close to a merchant so you don’t have to worry about walking long distances while over-encumbered.

When in the container, press the button to “search” the container, bringing your own inventory up alongside it. Then, empty the existing contents of the container into your inventory and replace it with the item you intend to duplicate.

Now, hover over any item in your inventory that has a large stack amount – arrows are ideal for this – and simultaneously press RB and A on Xbox, or R1 and X on PS5. This will bring up the “How many?” menu, select as large a number as you can, and then hit the continue button twice. Take the item out of the container, and it should now be duplicated.

Note that this can take a few tries and some items can prove more stubborn than others. We found it worked more consistently with items we already had multiple copies of, so that might factor into what can and can’t be duplicated.
