Oblivion Remastered Quality vs. Performance: The best graphics setting for console
By Dave Aubrey

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered is finally out now, and after a chunky 120GB update, we’ve been able to sit down and play the game on multiple platforms. PC players will have a long list of settings to tweak so they can get a solid framerate of their system, but console players have presets to play with.
Oblivion Remastered comes with two primary presets: Quality and Performance, and these can be toggled in the Options menu under Graphics. You can also independently turn Motion Blur and Screen Space Reflections off or on, depending on your preference. You may get a mild performance uplift from disabling SSR, but it’s not likely to make a huge impact on your experience. For platform-specific recommendations, take a look at our breakdown below.
Best Oblivion Remastered graphics mode per console
Console graphics settings breakdown – Oblivion Remastered
Console owners get to choose between Quality and Performance mode, and as you might expect, Quality aims for higher resolutions at 30fps, and Performance aims to maintain a 60fps target.
When indoors, the Performance mode setting works flawlessly, and the game looks incredibly detailed. When outdoors and riding a horse across the landscape, the game can look distinctly choppier. Luckily, most of the action takes place in more confined spaces, and traversal stutter shouldn’t impact your experience too much — though it can be distracting.
If you’re looking for a slightly sharper image, Quality mode is decent, though the game doesn’t appear too soft in Performance mode anyway. Regardless, if high resolution and stable framerate is your goal, Quality is a decent option. If you decide to use Quality mode, then you might want to consider also enabling Motion Blur.
Best PS5 graphics settings – Oblivion Remastered
For the PS5, we suggest the Performance mode. The PS5 cannot output at 120hz in this title in the current version, so 40fps or LFC is not possible. Therefore, the Performance mode is recommended, though if traversal stutter is annoying, Quality is a suitable choice.
Best PS5 Pro graphics settings – Oblivion Remastered
For the PS5 Pro version, we suggest Performance mode again. This version also cannot output at 120hz, and still suffers from noticeable traversal stutter. Despite that, the Performance mode looks incredibly sharp, and performance doesn’t waver when inside buildings or caves.
Best Xbox Series X graphics settings – Oblivion Remastered
The Xbox Series X always outputs at 120hz if your display supports it, making the Quality mode much more appealing thanks to LFC. We still recommend the Performance mode in most cases, but if you’ve got a large display and want pin-sharp visuals, the Quality mode is better here than on PS5.
Best Xbox Series S graphics settings – Oblivion Remastered
Unfortunately, the Xbox Series S version of the game does not have graphics settings to choose from. This version of the game always runs at 30fps, and you might want to try using Motion Blur to smooth the visuals. A 120hz-capable display is preferable here for the smoothest possible playback.
