Outer Worlds 2 For Whom the Bridge Tolls: How to cross the bridge
By Ryan Woodrow

Once you’ve secured yourself a way into the Vox Relay in the north of Paradise Island, you’re clear to head up there, but there’s a problem. The northern section of the island is almost entirely locked off by the Protectorate, and the only way across is a bridge heavily guarded by soldiers who aren’t interested in helping you out.
Speak to the guard at the gate, and you’ll get a few different options of how to earn entry, and we’ll break down each of them as a walkthrough for the quest “For Whom the Bridge Tolls”.

Option 1 – Hand over Protectorate traitors
The most straightforward option is to do as the guard on the bridge directs and bring in those that the Protectorate sees as traitors, namely, Charlton Weintraut and Ida Routledge.
Charlton is a citizen of Westport. Head over there and talk to him. If you pass a Speech check, you can convince him; otherwise, you’ll need to find his house in he abandoned sector and uncover his addiction to Aunty’s Choice products to blackmail him into it. Note that if you’ve already completed the Brain Benders of Aunty’s Choice in Outer Worlds 2, then you’ll instead find Charlton at the administration office in Fairfield instead.
As for Ida, she’s actually already dead, but you’ll need to prove that to the guard. Head outside of Fairfield to the elevated facility – the same place where you get the double jump in Outer Worlds 2. There, the people will explain that Ida threw herself into the machinery, and if you want to get your proof, you’ll need to head over there and pull out her arm, which you can present to the guard.
It’s also important to say that any version of events where you cooperate with the Protectorate will upset Inez, though this option might be preferable to the alternative.
Option 2 – Hand over Inez
If you bring Inez with you to the bridge, the guard there will also note that Inez is someone they’re after. While you can stop hostilities breaking out between the two, he guard will offer to let you across if you hand over Inez instead of whoever else they ask for. If you accept this you will lose Inez permanently as a companion, so it’s definitely not worth it, but you can do it if you feel like being a jerk.
Option 3 – The old fashioned way
Of course, you can always just shoot your way through. It’ll be a tough job as this station is heavily guarded by Protectorate soldiers and automated turrets, but with a decent strategy you should be able to get by.
Option 4 – Find another way across
If you instead head over to the east, there’s an outcropping of terrain among all the rocks that leads to a half-sunken ship in the water. With the double jump, you can hop across there and end up on the northern half of the island. From there, head back west past the pier and you’ll find an elevator that takes you up right next to the entrance for the Vox Relay.
