Rin has a couple of different usages too, and we’ll break them down in this build guide covering all her skills awareness, as well as running down her best weapons, team comp, and Revelation Cards.

What does Memory and Meng Po Soup do?
Rin’s unique mechanic centers around building Memory stacks to obtain Meng Po Soup. Rin builds Memory in two ways: One is that every time she acts, she gains 1 Memory stack for every 10 points of Speed, up to a maximum of 18 every turn. Two is by using Underworld Fury, which builds Memory best when hitting many foes at once.
Once Rin has 40 Memory stacks, she’ll get Meng Po Soup for one turn. This gives all of her skills a 50% chance to inflict forget, while both her Flowers of Naihe and Lion Dance of Oblivion skills get their enhanced effects activated.
How to use Rin in P5X
Use Underworld Fury until you have Meng Po Soup
Building Memory stacks is most important with Rin, as that maximizes both her damage and debuff potential. Underworld Fury is a base attack you should be using most of the time with her, as it lowers foes’ defenses for your DPS units while building Memory stacks the fastest for Rin. This is true even when facing a single foe, as while Rin’s damage output it lower, the quicker build is worth it.
Inflict Forget on bosses
While Lion Dance of Oblivion does the most damage – and you should use that if you’re facing many enemies, using Flower of Naihl to inflict Forget is much more useful in boss encounters, as it will stop them using anything other than their most basic attack, which usually cripples their damage output, and stops them from inflicting annoying effects.
Best team composition for Rin in P5X
- Wonder
- Joker
- Rin
- Sepia OR 5-Star DPS
Rin’s best role is as a support for Joker. They’re both Curse-based units, which means they enhance each other’s attack. While Rin can be used as a Curse DPS if you’re short of other options, it’s better to have her in a debuff-focused role to clear the way for Joker and Wonder to deal the big damage. As for the last slot, this is more open. If you’re building a Curse-centric team, then Sepia is the clear choice. However, if that’s not a priority, then any other big DPS unit like Panther or Queen would slot perfectly into a team like this.
Best weapon for Rin in P5X
The progression for weapons in this game is pretty simple: the more stars a weapon has, the better it is both in terms of stats and its abilities, so you should always try and pull the best weapon possible when building a character. Here are the stats and effects of all of Rin’s weapons:
- Staff (2-star) – HP 84; ATK 29; DEF 16 – Increase Attack by 11.3%
- Willowstaff (3-star) – HP 101; ATK 34; DEF 20 – Increases damage taken by foes with Forget by 14.4%.
- Sunstaff (4-star) – HP 135; ATK 46; DEF 27 – Increase Attack by 12%. After inflicting a debuff, increase Speed by 8 for 1 turn. Stacks up to 2 times. Gain 2 stacks at the start of battle.
- Infinite Moment (5-star) – HP 169; ATK 58; DEF 33 – Increase Speed by 15. After attacking a foe with a skill, inflict Waters of Oblivion on the main target. Waters of Oblivion: Increase foe’s damage taken by 1.2% for every 1 of Yaoling’s Speed for 1 turn. Increase Yaoling’s Speed by 15 for 2 turns. After spending Mang Po Soup to use a skill on a foe, inflict this effect on all foes.
Best Revelation Cards for Rin in P5X
You’ve got two choices for Rin’s Revelation Cards. You can either go for Hindrance and Departure or Prosperity and Departure. Hindrance is a straightforward set that buffs Curse damage, even more so if the target has debuffs – something Rin is built around inflicting. Prosperity decreases damage taken and boosts the Highlight gauge, which isn’t that useful on its own, but the Departure combo is what makes it.
With Hindrance, Departure will buff Rin’s Attack by 30% when a foe is defeated, making it good for a DPS sweeper build on Rin. Prosperity, meanwhile, buffs the entire party’s Attack by 8% every time Rin attacks a foe.
Which set you use depends on what role Rin is filling in the team. A DPS Rin should use Hindrance, while a support Rin should use Prosperity.
