Our second summer character is here, and this time it’s Tomoko getting the fun in the sun treatment, with Summer Moko being the 5-star variant of our adorable friend. It’s much needed too, as the base form of Moko isn’t the most desirable character, as we covered in our P5X character tier list.

Thankfully, Summer Moko is a lot stronger and well worth the investment, so here’s our rundown of how best to build this character.

What do Sparks and Summer Reminiscence do?

Sparks are the central point of Summer Moko’s unique mechanic. Moko can either inflict Sparks on foes herself or set up her allies to inflict Sparks for her. When a foe has 3 Sparks on them, Summer Reminiscence will activate, and a cascade of effects will occur. For every 3 stacks of Sparks on all foes when it triggers, you will deal Psy damage equal to 19% of Moko’s attack; decrease foe’s Damage Dealt by 30% for 1 turn; restore your party’s HP by 9% of Moko’s attack.

These effects can be triggered up to five times, so your goal is to spread 15 Sparks stacks across all enemies on the field to get the most out of it. You don’t need to worry about accidentally killing weaker enemies either, as when a foe dies, it passes its Sparks onto a random foe.

How to use Summer Moko in P5X

Let Moko’s allies set up Sparks

While Moko can use Have a Cold Drink to set up Sparks for herself, it’ll be more effective to use either Hale Summer Days or Sparkling Memories to allow her allies to inflict Sparks in her stead, especially if you have sweepers like Panther or Summer Closer on your team who can inflict multiple Sparks onto enemies at once at a consistent rate.

Have a Cold Drink for damage

Once Moko’s set up (ideally by using Sparkling Memories the turn before to weaken foes), you can use Have a Cold Drink if you need to switch to dealing damage. Of course, you shouldn’t prioritize this over healing if it’s needed, but generally you should rely on this as your damage-dealing move.

Best team composition for Summer Moko in P5X

Summer Moko is a good option for when you need some degree of healing on the team, but don’t want to lose out on a full party slot of DPS. While someone like Mirian is a far more effective healer, she can’t deal out the damage like Moko can, and Moko can do it while weakening enemies and strengthening her allies.

We recommend putting her in a DPS-focused team, but making sure that Wonder has at least one decent healing Persona on-hand in case more healing is needed than what Moko can dish out. This is especially useful if you need Psy damage in battle, so you don’t have to rely solely on Moko’s healing abilities to keep the party healthy. As you might expect, Summer Closer makes for a pretty good DPS partner, as Moko can buff her abilities significantly, and they both benefit from many foes on the field at once.

Best weapon for Summer Moko in P5X

The progression for weapons in this game is pretty simple: the more stars a weapon has, the better it is both in terms of stats and its abilities, so you should always try and pull the best weapon possible when building a character. Here are the stats and effects of all of Moko’s weapons:

  • Sparklers (2-Star) – HP 94; ATK 29; DEF 15 – Increase Attack by 11.3%
  • Twinkling Sparklers (3-Star) – HP 113; ATK 34; DEF 18 – When activating Summer Reminiscence, decrease the target’s damage by 8.5%.
  • Ocean’s Tidings (4-Star) – HP 151; ATK 46; DEF 24 –Increase Attack by 12%. When activating Summer Remiscence, increase the user’s healing by 13% for 2 turns.
  • Bubble Babies (5-Star) – Increase healing by 22%. Increase multiplier for skill damage from Summer Reminiscence and healing by 18.5%. When activating Summer Reminiscence, increase the target’s damage taken by 8.5% for 3 turns. Stacks up to 2 times.

Best Revelation Cards for Summer Moko in P5X

The best set for Summer Moko is pretty clear: Pleasure & Integrity. While Moko should never be your main DPS on a team, she is able to deal reliable damage while supporting her allies, so a 10% buff to Psychokinesis damage is warranted, alongside the further 15% buff that you get when there’s more than three enemies on the field. Combining it with Integrity pushes it even further, with Moko’s attack getting an increase of 80% of her healing effect, which is something she has quite a lot of as a reliable healer.
