Persona 5: The Phantom X – Best Wind/Riko build, team comp, and Revelation Cards
By Ryan Woodrow

Wind is the latest Phantom Thief of Desire to be added in the Version 2.0 update for P5X, and she’s the Navigator for the group, which means she isn’t fighting on the field, but instead supporting the crew from the back. Wind is an interesting unit, as she focuses on debuffing foes by lowering their defenses and making it easier for the party to exploit their weaknesses.
We’ll explain everything you need to know to get the most out of Wind, including how to use her on the battlefield, what party composition is best for her, and what Revelation Cards you should equip.

All Wind skills and abilities in P5X
Chiyome Skills
- Scattered Plum Blossoms – Decreases all foes’ Defense by 10% for 2 turns. When Riko’s Speed is at 100 or more, decrease Defense by 4.9% for every 10 points of Speed over 100, up to 29.4%. Also inflict Insight on the main target.
- Dreams in the Mist – Increase all foes’ Damage Taken by 10.5% for 2 turns. When an ally reduces enemies’ Down Points or knocks down a foe, decrease cooldown time by 1. When cooldown time reaches 0, activate this skill.
- Verngale Petals – Spend all Intel stacks to grant Fair Winds to party for 1 turn and restore targeted ally’s HP by 12.7%. Fair Winds: Increase damage to foes by 12.6%. Increase more based on Riko’s Speed and the number of Intel stacks spent. If Riko’s Speed is above 100, increase damage by 1.05% for every 10 points of Speed over 100, up to 6.3%.
Hidden Abilities
- Springtime Tempest – At the start of battle, if Riko’s speed is above 100, increase party’s HP by 6, Attack by 2, and Defense by 2 for every 1 point of Speed above 100. Increase HP up to 260, Attack up to 120, and Defense up to 120.
- Plum Blossom Glory – Increase One More and All-Out Attack damage by 60%.
Awareness levels and abilities
- A1: Spring Squall – At the start of battle, inflict Insight on the foe with the most Down Points.
- A2: Ethereal Scent – After using Verngale Petals, inflict Insight on the foe with the most Down Points.
- A3: Harmonious Fragrance – Increase the skill levels of Scattered Plum Blossoms and Dreams in the Mist by 2.
- A4: One Thousand Blossoms – When an ally uses a Highlight, inflict Insight on the foe with the most Down Points.
- A5: Balance and Harmony – Increase the skill level of Verngale Petals by 2.
- A6: Majesty – If Riko’s Speed is above 100, when using Verngale Petals, decrease cool time for every 15 points of Speed over 100, up to 4 actions.
What do Insight and Intel do?
Wind’s unique mechanic is Insight and Intel. Every third ally action, Wind will automatically inflict Insight on the foe with the most Down Points – that’s the little yellow number next to their health bar that determines how many blows to their weakness they can resist before being stunned. Each stack of Insight increases the foe’s damage taken by 6%.
When a party member attacks a foe with Insight, all of it gets spent to grant Wind Intel, and when she reaches two stacks of Intel, you can now strike an enemy to decrease their Down Points by two instead of one when striking at their weakness. Wind also gains an Intel stack (up to eight at once) whenever an enemy loses a Down Point.
How to use Wind in P5X
Boost her speed
As you’ve no doubt noticed. A lot of Wind’s abilities and skills do extra stuff when her Speed stat is high. When setting her up with Revelation Cards, try to get as many buffs to Speed in there as possible, as your whole party will benefit from it.
Skill priority order
Generally speaking, you should focus on Scattered Plum Blossoms as the skill you use from Wind most of the time. The consistent ability to lower enemy defenses is really good, though if you can stack it with Dreams in the Mist, it’s even better. You should really only use Verngale Petals if you’re desperate for some healing. While the Attack buff is nice, the Defense drops on enemies are better, and there are other characters who can fill the healing slot if you’re in desperate need of some on your team.
Best team composition for Wind in P5X
Like most Navi units, there isn’t a specific team that fits best with Wind, as they’re designed to be able to support a variety of teams in different situations. That said, she’s generally best at supporting strong DPS units. While she doesn’t buff them directly, she does weaken enemies to help make their attacks stronger. Plus, you should always aim to have her on a team that exploits the foes’ elemental weaknesses. You should generally always be doing this regardless, but with Wind it’s especially important as otherwise her skills aren’t all that useful.
Best weapon for Wind in P5X
The progression for weapons in this game is pretty simple: the more stars a weapon has, the better it is both in terms of stats and its abilities, so you should always try and pull the best weapon possible when building a character. Here are the stats and effects of all of Wind’s weapons:
- Snake Eyes Umbrella (2-stars) – HP 92; ATK 27; DEF 16 – Increase Attack by 11.3%.
- Blade Umbrella (3-stars) – HP 111; ATK 33; DEF 19 – At the start of battle, increase all allies’ Attack by 10% for 2 turns.
- Bright Moon Hook (4-stars) – HP 148; ATK 44; DEF 25 – Increase Attack by 12%. Permanently increase all allies’ Attack by 3.5% after breaking a Vulnerability, up to 5 stacks.
- Shinobi Tool: Winged Sky Blade (5-stars) – HP 185; ATK 55; DEF 22 – Increase Speed by 15%. For every 2 Vulnerabilities broken, gain 2 extra stacks of Intel and increase all allies’ Damage Dealt by 6% for 1 turn. Increase the cap of Intel to 11.
Best Revelation Cards for Wind in P5X
Wind is best used with some of the new Revelation Cards added in the P5X Version 2.0 update, Labor & Resolve. Labor will increase Riko’s max HP while also granting an 8% HP buff to all her allies’ HP, Attack, and Defense. Combine it with the Resolve card and you further buff Wind’s ability to debuff foes, as it adds an extra Defense drop to every one of her skills.
