Giovanni and the gang are back in Pokémon GO for the Crown Clash: Taken Over event since midnight local time on May 14, 2025, bringing a refreshed line-up of Pokémon as well as fresh rewards.

Team GO Rocket’s boss has a Shadow Dialga up his sleeve this time, so completing his Special Research and obtaining a Super Rocket Radar will net you an opportunity to liberate it from him. As usual, the missions feature other useful resources and materials as well, though.

This Special Research is available to everyone for free after logging in during the event, though under the condition that you do not currently have an active Rocket Special Research. If you do, you can finish that mission and get access to the current one without issue, but only one can be active at a time. Once logged, there is no time limit to complete these tasks.

A ticket priced $4.99 USD (or your regional equivalent) grants you access to the Premium Timed Research for this event. Note that you need to complete the missions and claim the rewards by May 18, 2025, at 11:59pm local time — they’re gone otherwise. This mission contains another Super Rocket Radar, providing players with another opportunity to grab a Shadow Dialga from Giovanni in addition to the Special Research.

Finally, the event comes with a couple of Field Research Tasks that can be obtained by spinning PokéStops. Although the event-exclusive missions can only be obtained while Crown Clash: Taken Over is going on, you have no time limit on finishing them.
