Pokémon GO Water Festival 2025: All Research Tasks

You better not be afraid of getting wet, because Water Festival 2025 is running in Pokémon GO from July 15 to 20, 2025.

This event increases the duration of Rainy Lure Modules and the rewards for Nice Throws, plus the chances to encounter Shiny forms of Staryu and Tirtouga. Special costumed Lapras are on the menu as well, bringing a seasonal background with them — but they’re very rare and only available from Raids. Water Festival 2025 also features the debut of Tatsugiri’s Curly, Doopy, and Stretchy form, which are new regional Pokémon exclusive to some areas of the globe.

Pokémon GO Water Festival 2025: Timed Research Tasks

Happiness in Every Scoop is a Premium Timed Research accessible only with a ticket from the in-game store priced $4.99 USD or your regional equivalent. It’ll only be available until July 20, 2025, at 8pm local time, so be sure to finish all missions and claim your rewards by then — they will go to waste otherwise.

Exclusive Field Research Tasks are available from spinning PokéStops while Water Festival is going on and do not expire after the event ends, as long as you have them in your inventory.

• Catch 15 Pokémon: Lanturn, Palpitoad, Tirtouga

• Win a Raid: Lapras (Scarf)

Pokémon GO Water Festival 2025: Collection Challenges

Collection Challenges are free for everyone, similar to Field Research Tasks, but function like Timed Research Tasks in that they are only available while the event is running. In this case, you have until July 20, 2025, at 8pm local time to complete the missions and get the rewards.

In contrast to how Collection Challenges usually work, you’ll need to catch Gyarados, Kingler, and Azumarill to complete these missions — evolving them does not count. Naturally, players are not very happy with this, as their exclusive availability from Raids and the Timed Research Tasks reeks of forcing users to open their wallets.
