Pokémon Legends: Z-A will require a lot of in-game money. There are dozens of outfits to obtain from Lumiose’s many clothing stores, a bunch of Mega Stones that you’ll want to spend money on, and the usual Pokémon staples of Poké Balls, potions, items, and more.

Thankfully there are a few ways to make money, but one stands above the rest as far and away the easiest way to rake in the cash. In this guide we’ll go over the best way to make money in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

Best way to make money in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

By far the best way to make money in Pokémon Legends: Z-A is to compete in the Z-A Royale at night. Each trainer defeated gives a handful of coins, and those coins are converted into Poké Dollars when the Z-A Royale closes at the end of the night at a pretty healthy rate. There are even multipliers for defeating a lot of trainers — defeating 5 trainers, for example, will give you 1.5x the money at the end of the night, while defeating 10 trainers will give you 2x money.

Night time lasts for about 15 minutes, so you can knock out quite a few trainer battles in that time, especially if you have a fairly diverse team. Over the course of a Z-A Royale round, you can expect to be bringing in around 30,000 Poké Dollars in the early game, and at least 50,000 during the mid-game, if not much more. Given you can skip to night time immediately by resting on a bench – after that option is given to you during the story – that means you can easily make 100,000-200,000 Poké Dollars an hour, or much more later in the game, which is a pretty good rate all things considered.

You can also compete in the Z-A Royale at pretty much any point during the story, with only a few extremely rare instances where you’re locked out from it. If you have the freedom to walk to a Pokémon Centre, you have the freedom to participate in the Z-A Royale, even if you’ve already earned a Challenger Ticket or if your next Promotion Match hasn’t been announced.

You can boost your cash flow even further by obtaining a Gold Canari Plush from the Colorful Screw Exchange at Racine Construction. Having this plush in your possession increases the amount of prize money you receive from battles.
