Pokémon Legends Z-A: How to get and restore fossil Pokémon

Like most Pokémon games, Pokémon Legends: Z-A is home to a wide range of incredible Pokémon. Among those Pokémon are a few fan favorites: fossil Pokémon. Lumiose City is home to three fossil Pokémon evolution lines, and you’ll often see them roaming around with other trainers throughout the city.
If you want to get your hands on your very own fossil Pokémon, we’ve put together this handy guide which will tell you where to get fossils and how to restore them into Pokémon.
Where to get fossils – Legends ZA
Fossils can be obtained at the Stone Emporium on Vernal Avenue, south of the Vernal Pokémon Center. There are three fossils on offer:
- Jaw Fossil – 20,000 Poké Dollars
- Sail Fossil – 20,000 Poké Dollars
- Old Amber – 30,000 Poké Dollars
These are obtainable from the very start of the game, as soon as you get access to the city to explore and can get to the Stone Emporium. We’d recommend holding off on buying one right away, though, as you can save a bit of money if you wait just a little while.
How to restore fossils – Legends ZA
Fossil restoration becomes available via a side quest unlocked through progressing in the main story. It’s side quest #27: Restored from a Fossil, and it’s given to you by Reg on the second floor of the Pokémon Research Lab at the very south of Lumiose City.
When you start this quest, Reg will give you 20,000 Poké Dollars and ask you to bring him a Sail Fossil or a Jaw Fossil. Head to the Stone Emporium and pick whichever one you like, then take it back to Reg in the Lab. He’ll restore it for you on the spot, and let you keep the resulting Pokémon.
After completing the quest, you can bring any fossil to Reg and he’ll restore it for you.
The Jaw Fossil is restored into Tyrunt, which ultimately evolves into Tyrantrum. The Sail Fossil is restored into Amaura, which ultimately evolves into Aurorus. And finally, the Old Amber is restored into Aerodactyl, which does not have an evolution but is capable of Mega Evolution.
