Silent Hill f: Scarecrow Field puzzle solution

Silent Hill f’s puzzles can be pretty difficult to solve sometimes, but few are more of a challenge than the Field puzzle, which sees Hinako lost in a field of murderous scarecrows, solving riddles to find the one scarecrow that can safely point her in the right direction. It’s also the puzzle with the most brutal fail condition — if you pick the wrong scarecrow, you’ll be attacked by it and likely have to kill it before you can move on. 

Each scarecrow field has a stationary, non-murderous scarecrow at the front of it, which will give you a clue on which murderous scarecrow to pick. When you’ve made your choice, you’ll have to select the scarecrow, then zoom in on a note attached somewhere on the scarecrow’s body.

First scarecrow

The clue for this scarecrow is: Who are you? Why do you always have to be different than everyone else? Freak. 

The correct scarecrow is the girl with the short hair with her head bowed down posing as if in a crucifixion. The note is embedded in her right shoulder. 

Second scarecrow

The clue for this scarecrow is: Who are you? Honestly. You’re helpless without me. 

The correct scarecrow is the girl bent over backwards with no weapon in her hand — the only scarecrow without a weapon. The note is embedded in her right hip. 

Third scarecrow

The clue for this scarecrow is: Who are you? I’ll be your friend. Otherwise, you’d be so miserably alone. 

The correct scarecrow is the girl on the right with her head turned upside down and her hands raised up behind her back with a bird-shaped pin on her shirt. The note is embedded in her right armpit. 

Fourth scarecrow 

The clue for this scarecrow is: Who are you? Tell me, truly. You two aren’t anything more than friends, right? I’ve always been watching you when you weren’t looking, you know. 

The correct scarecrow is the girl standing on one leg with her arms stretched out in a Z-shaped motion. A girl with long hair with her arms behind her back is standing behind her. The note is embedded in her left hip. 

Fifth scarecrow 

The clue for this scarecrow is: Who are you? You. Yes, you. 

The correct scarecrow is the one with medium-length hair that looks very similar to Hinako’s. She’s posed as if in a crucifixion, with her head bowed down. The note is embedded in her right shoulder.

First scarecrow

The clue for this scarecrow is: Can you even imagine how I feel? I’ll put on my polite smile for now. 

The correct scarecrow is a girl who is standing on one leg, with a big smile on her face. The note is embedded in her left shoulder. 

Second scarecrow

The clue for this scarecrow is: Can you even imagine how I feel? What it’s like to have been deceived by you for so long?

The correct scarecrow is a girl who has her head bowed down with a sickle stabbed into her back. The note is embedded in her right armpit. 

Third scarecrow 

The clue for this scarecrow is: Can you even imagine how I feel? He never once looked at me the way he looked at you. Not once. 

The correct scarecrow is a girl on the left-hand side of the field, bent over backwards. The note is embedded in her bellybutton. 

Fourth scarecrow 

The clue for this scarecrow is: Can you even imagine how I feel? You’ve always been such an eyesore.

First scarecrow 

The clue for this scarecrow is: It’s your funeral today. I think I’ll give you a standing ovation.

The correct scarecrow is a girl with her head tilted upside down and her arms splayed out behind her like wings. The note is embedded in her left breast. 

Second scarecrow

The clue for this scarecrow is: It’s your funeral today. Good riddance. It feels as though I finally got this painful burden off my chest.

The correct scarecrow has her head bowed down. A scythe is sticking in the floor where it fell from her chest.

Third scarecrow

The clue for this scarecrow is: It’s your funeral today. You hurt him, and now you’re leaving him behind. I hope you suffer for what you’ve done.

The correct scarecrow is the one furthest away from you with her back to the rest and one knee raised up. Her head is tilted upside down.

Fourth scarecrow 

The clue for this scarecrow is: It’s your funeral today. You were such a thorn in my side. Always getting between me and him.

The correct scarecrow is a woman with her arms outstretched but bent at the elbow in opposite directions. Her head is tilted to the side and the note is in her abdomen.

Fifth scarecrow

The clue for this scarecrow is: It’s your funeral today. Goodbye, and don’t ever show your face again. Go do your own thing, just like you always have.

The correct scarecrow is away from the rest of the group, close to hanging racks and a hay bale with chocolate on it. She’s leaning forward with her arms outstretched behind her in an almost crucifixion pose.
