Tainted Grail I See A Darkness: Should you let Abhartach bite you?
By Ryan Woodrow

Tainted Grail’s world is dark and downbeat, so it’s no surprise that the few people managing to make a life for themselves out here aren’t exactly living in perfect harmony. Such is the case when you reach the village just west of the Horns of the South castle, where the small community is in turmoil.
You can start I See A Darkness by talking to the widow standing in front of a man in a cage. She’ll explain that he’s got some strange affliction, and after a chat, it’ll be your job to try and cut down the affliction at its source.
Entering the dream
When you get to the quest marker, you’ll find a camp. Defeat the corpse eater there and lie down in the sleeping bag to trigger the next part of the quest. Note that you must use the sleeping bag, as resting by a campfire won’t work.
When you rest, you’ll be taken to a dream dimension where Abhartach is waiting for you. They claim to be able to cure the afflicted; all they need is one bite of your flesh, so you’d be forgiven for being apprehensive about doing it.
Should you let Abhartach bite you?
If you let Abhartach bite you, you’ll take a bit of damage, but it’s fine, as Abhartach will immediately die. As it turns out, Arthur’s blood running through your veins is poisonous to them.
Refusing will trigger a boss battle against Abhartach, though it won’t last long, as their exhaustion will prevent them from doing more than just a single attack before you’re allowed to wail on them and end the fight.
As far as the quest is concerned, the outcome is the same either way. You get the same loot and experience from Abhartach, and when you return to the village, you’ll find Mahon is cured, but Col is not.
Should you kill Col?
Players with high Spirituality will unlock an extra dialogue at the end of this quest, where you can convince Betrys to put Col out of his misery. If you do this, you will now have to kill Col, though it is still considered a crime to do so, so you’ll need to be stealthy. However, succeeding will earn you a slightly greater reward for finishing the quest, with extra gold and XP on offer.
