Tainted Grail: All player homes and how to get them
By Ryan Woodrow

Given how dark and hostile the world of Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon can be, it’s nice to have a place to call home. In this game, there are a couple of houses that you can buy, giving you access to safe storage as well as a variety of crafting stations all in one convenient location. However, there are also a handful of free locations that, while not officially ownable homes, essentially function as such once certain quests are completed.
We’ll break down the two different types of home, listing all of them available in Tainted Grail so you can get the Home Sweet Home achievement.
Purchasable player homes – Home Sweet Home achievement
Wooden Villa – 20,000 gold
If you were expecting anything approaching luxury in this world, then think again, as 20k gold will get you this run-down shack by the seaside. It’s a good base for Act 1 of the game, as it’s an easy base where you can hide from the dangers of the night, but you’ll quickly outgrow the need for it, especially as once the story moves past the Horns of the South, you’ll rarely need to return.
Town Residence – 50,000 gold
In the main square of Cuanacht, this house is the nicest residence you’ll be able to get your hands on in the game, and will be a solid base to use for the majority of the game. Being right in the middle of town you’re close to a variety of useful merchants and quest givers, plus it has ever kind of crafting station built in.
Purchasing either of these homes will earn you the Home Sweet Home achievement.
Other homes in Tainted Grail
While all of these homes are cheap/free and can be useful bases, they won’t be officially owned by you, and won’t earn you the Home Sweet Home achievement.
The Mansion by the Beach – 500 gold
In the village tavern in the Horns of the South, talk to Alisa to start the quest, Farewell, Lady Alisa. Skipping over the details, at the end of this quest you’ll be able to buy the home for 500 gold (or 300 if you succeed at the haggling attempt), though it is virtually useless. It serves as a safe place to rest at night, but it has no storage options or crafting stations to use.
Firket’s Home – Free
In Cuanacht, after reigniting the Menhir, you’ll find Firket outside of his home being hounded by some Kamelot Knights. Getting involved will start the quest Playing with Fire, and to unlock the home, you’ll need to side with Firket. You’ll need to convince Delhome to return his possession to him and make sure that he lives to see the end of the quest and get the soldiers off his back. Succeed and Firket will let you use his home freely, as if it were your own.
Dal Riata homes – Free
This is one you can lock yourself out of quite early on if you side with Galahad in Tainted Grail. However, assuming you sided with the Dal Riata, you’ll eventually be led to the quest Divided We Fall, where you have to recruit as many of them as possible for Moot. At the end of this quest, all of the Dal Riata you successfully recruited will open their homes to you, letting you come and go as you please and take anything from inside.
