Umamusume Champions Meeting: PvP mode explained
By Marco Wutz

The Champions Meeting is a PvP mode in Umamusume: Pretty Derby that’s a bit harsher than Team Trials, but likewise offers aspiring trainers rewards if they do well. Typically held once per month, Champions Meeting is basically tournament mode in which you can challenge teams of other trainers over several rounds, unlike the one-off nature of Team Trials.

In this article, we’ll explain how Champions Meeting works in Umamusume and provide you with a schedule with all upcoming events based on the Japanese version’s calendar, which the global version is following.
Champions Meeting: Open League or Graded League?
Three days before a new Champions Meeting event begins, you’ll be able to choose one of two leagues to participate in — Open League or Graded League. If you want to participate in the Champions Meeting, making this choice is mandatory, so be sure not to miss the sign-up period.
So, what’s the difference? Basically, Open League restricts eligible Umamusume to a maximum rank of A+ while Graded League can contain Umamusume with higher ranks, making it tougher on average — naturally, Graded League offers more lucrative rewards in return.
You can always swap around your selection before the event begins, but are locked into your choice once it’s begun.
Champions Meeting: How does it work?
Each Champions Meeting event consists of a tournament with three rounds. Rounds 1 and 2 are basically qualifiers for Round 3, a bit like how the URA Finale works in the career scenario.
Rounds 1 and 2 last two days each and you have up to four attempts to secure victories per day, each consisting of five races against random opponents. Round 3 consists of a single race.
You choose three Umamusume from your roster of Veterans, which will compete against three Veteran Umamusume from two other players, so there’s always nine horse girls on track for the Champions Meeting.
Placing doesn’t really matter for these races — the Champions Meeting is winner-takes-all, so only first place will make your attempt successful.
You will advance through these rounds depending on how well you do in the following manner:
- Win more than three races in a single attempt in Round 1: You advance to Round 2, Group A.
- Win less than three races in a single attempt in Round 1: You advance to Round 2, Group B.
- Win more than three races in a single attempt in Round 2, Group A: You advance to Round 3, Group A.
- Win less than three races in a single attempt in Round 2, Group A: You advance to Round 3, Group B.
- Win at least one race in a single attempt in Round 2, Group B: You advance to Round 3, Group B.
In Round 3 – no matter if you’re Group A or Group B – it all comes down to a single, decisive race to crown the victor. Rewards will be given out depending on your overall performance throughout the competition.
