Wuthering Waves – Phrolova build and materials guide
By Marco Wutz

Direct fate’s orchestra with the best Wuthering Waves Phrolova build. This 5-Star Resonator wielding a Rectifier and dealing Havoc DMG is an immensely powerful Main DPS that requires no external support to cause devastation and can be used as a Sub DPS on some teams. At the same time, her kit description is about as long and easy to read as the Silmarillion and contains lots of redundant components you’ll never use in practice. In fact, you may want to brush up on your theoretical knowledge of music to fully understand it — seriously.

Here’s what it ultimately boils down to: Phrolova directs Hecate in battle to deal damage on and off the field with Hecate’s moves depending on what kind of melodies Phrolova is playing through your input. She has access to three different notes to compose these melodies, which consist of six notes in total:
- String: Basic Attack 3 or Enhanced Basic Attack, stagnates enemies.
- Wind: Skill or Enhanced Skill, groups up enemies.
- Cadenza: Intro or Echo Skill, combines String and Wind notes’ effects.
The Enhanced Basic Attack and Enhanced Skill become available after using Basic Attack 3 or Skill, so you can add several of these notes per rotation (as opposed to the Cadenza note). The Intro Skill chains into Basic Attack 3 immediately, enabling an even quicker start.
Phrolova’s Resonance Liberation doesn’t cost Resonance Energy (she doesn’t use the resource at all) and enables off-field attacks for Hecate in addition to providing a huge ATK buff to herself. Activating it requires making a Forte Heavy Attack — the move enabled by creating a melody of six notes. In essence, you come in, compose your melody, cast your Forte Heavy Attack and the Resonance Liberation, and then rotate Phrolova out while Hecate supports your next Resonator.
Phrolova’s damage output ramps up massively over the course of a battle, because she stacks CRIT DMG and Forte Heavy Attack DMG over time. Her Outro Skill is a Havoc and Heavy DMG Amplifier, making her especially strong with Havoc teams.
Naturally, getting duplicates of her leads to additional power-ups with Sequence Nodes 2 and 3 being especially strong DPS boosters. Sequence Node 4 makes Phrolova into an even stronger Sub DPS.
Best Phrolova weapons – Wuthering Waves
One of the biggest disadvantages of Phrolova is that she’s very dependent on her signature weapon, Lethean Elegy — so much so that you should consider getting them both or not at all. Lethean Elegy provides additional ATK and CRIT Rate on top of increasing the wielder’s Resonance Skill DMG and Echo Skill DMG Amplification for a time after they’ve dealt Echo Skill DMG. This temporary effect also allows them to partially bypass the DEF of enemy targets.
Best Phrolova weapons in WuWa:
- Lethean Elegy (5-Star)
- Stringmaster (5-Star)
- Whispers of Sirens (5-Star)
- Rime-Draped Sprouts (5-Star)
- Cosmic Ripples (5-Star)
- Augment (4-Star)
- Fusion Accretion (4-Star)
Best Phrolova Echoes – Wuthering Waves
Phrolova came to the game along with a signature Sonata Effects tailormade for her: Dream of the Lost. It provides CRIT Rate and Echo Skill DMG when the wearer has 0 Resonance Energy — which is always the case for Phrolova. Since it only takes up three slots, you can pair it up with two Echoes from Havoc Eclipse or Midnight Veil for extra Havoc DMG. Nightmare – Hecate is the perfect Main Echo for her, providing yet more Havoc and Echo Skill DMG.
In terms of stats, you can naturally neglect Energy Regeneration completely on Phrolova and go all-in on offensive attributes.
Best Phrolova Echoes in WuWa:
- Sonata Effect: Dream of the Lost (3-Set) + Havoc Eclipse (2-Set) / Midnight Veil (2-Set)
- Main Echo: Nightmare – Hecate

Best Phrolova teams – Wuthering Waves
Phrolova is best suited to be a team’s Main DPS, but is also a capable Sub DPS thanks to the buffs and off-field capabilities she brings to the table. She’s quite versatile when it comes to her own support units, because her self-buffs are so powerful that her gains from support characters don’t matter as much as they do for other Resonators.
- Phrolova (Main DPS), Roccia (Sub DPS), Cantarella (Support)
Cantarella is the optimal addition to any Phrolova team. She provides very valuable Havoc and Resonance Skill DMG and one of her big weaknesses as a support – low Energy Regeneration for the team – doesn’t matter at all to the Main DPS. Roccia provides a teamwide ATK buff that helps both Phrolova and Cantarella. Her and Cantarella also can take turns being on the field alongside Hecate while Phrolova’s abilities are on cooldown, making them an excellent team.
Shorekeeper remains one of the best alternatives in the support slot, while Phoebe makes for a very powerful Main DPS if you want to use Phrolova as a Sub DPS (thanks to her Heavy Attack DMG boost) — it’s a surprising combination, given their respective themes, but it works like a charm.
Phrolova ascension materials – Wuthering Waves
Once Phrolova has joined your team, you’ll want to level her up as quickly as possible, for which you’ll require the following materials:
- LF Polygon Core x4
