Persona 5: The Phantom X Version 1.4 patch notes
By Ryan Woodrow

P5X has received its next update, Version 1.4, which is the last update before Version 2.0, which will add the next section of the game’s main story in a couple of weeks. However, in the meantime, we’ve got some new mechanics, a new Phantom Idol, and new events to dive into, and new characters to meet.
There’s a bunch to break down, so here’s our roundup of everything new in P5X’s Version 1.4 update.
Contents
New Phantom Idol – Yumi Shiina (Phoebe)
Yumi was added as a Synergy Bond in the previous update, and now she’s officially on the roster as a playable Phantom Idol. She’s a Navi unit, so she’s there to support the party, with her focus being on Attack-buffing skills. She uses her own Attack stat to buff the party’s Attack and Damage Dealt stats during battle, so she can really buff your team’s power.
Her Banner will be active until September 22, 2025.
New Synergy Bond – Ayaka Sakai (Chord)
Along with Yumi’s Synergy story getting an update, a brand new Synergy Bond has been added in the form of Ayaka Sakai, who is the girl you’ll regularly see at Station Square in Shibuya playing guitar. You can get to know her though her storyline in this update, then in the 2.0 update, she will be added as a Phantom Idol, codename Chord. She’s one of the game’s best characters, so if you’re not already saving up currency to get her, you should be.
Mindscape Thief Training
A new mechanic has been added to help make your Phantom Idols more powerful than ever before: The Mindscape. This is where you can give them permanent stat buffs similar to the Schema boosts you can unlock for the protagonist. To unlock these boosts, you’ll need to get Stardust Shards. You’ll earn a fixed amount of these each day based on the total number of stars you’ve earn across all of the Velvet Trials.
Trial of Thorns event
From now until September 8, you can participate in the Trial of Thorns, a challenge battle mode where you’ll be tackling some tough bosses. You’ll first have to beat them on a fixed difficulty mode, and after that, you’ll unlock a custom difficulty mode for extra rewards. The rewards for these battles include Meta Jewels, Revelation Cards, and Joy Medals, so it’s worth trying it out.
New Metro of Desire route
The Metro of Desire has been expanded with a new route being unlocked for you to try your hand at the game’s roguelike battle mode. This new route has eight difficulty levels and its own special operations with new bosses, charms, and lost items to collect. On top of that, the Route Goals level cap is being increased – first to 130 today, then again to 150 next week on August 27.
