Triumph announces Age of Wonders 4: Archon Prophecy for PC, PS5, and Xbox

Triumph Studios and Paradox Interactive have revealed the release date of Age of Wonders 4: Archon Prophecy — the next expansion for the strategy game will come to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on August 12, 2025.

Archon Prophecy introduces the brand-new Architects Culture. Any civilization belonging to this group will have access to special monuments. Constructing these will bolster their affinities and unlock strong bonuses. 

Accompanying the new Culture are two Forms — the divine Elysians and the withered Ancients.

Prophecy Traits join the expansion’s content, bringing with them new narrative beats and player decisions that will help users define their ruler’s ambitions and unlock additional rewards should they heed the Prophecy bestowed on them.

This mechanic will feature heavily in the two brand-new Story Realms becoming available with Archon Prophecy.

The expansion brings four new Tomes of Magic to the table as well. The Tome of Virtue can be invoked to bolster your armies with courage and righteousness. The Tome of Prophecies might shape battlefields or entire wars according to your design, using fate itself as a weapon. Make celestial friends and ascend your own units to divinity with the Tome of the Archon or channel the power of the dead with the Tome of the Revenant.

Completing the expansion’s heavenly theme is a new Hero Class, the Battlesaint — a support and tank archetype. Additional wildlife units, mounts, music, cosmetics, and map updates round out Archon Prophecy.

Even more content will come for free to all owners of Age of Wonders 4 with the Griffon Update, which is set to be released on the same day as the expansion.
