Age of Wonders 4: Thrones of Blood release date announced for PC, PS5, and Xbox
By Marco Wutz

Age of Wonders 4 is set for another run of DLC: Triumph Studios and Paradox Interactive have announced Expansion Pass 3 for the game, which once again consists of a cosmetic pack and three other expansions, divided into a ruler pack, culture pack, and story pack. Thrones of Blood – the ruler pack – will kick things off on November 11, 2025, with its release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
Thrones of Blood touches on a theme that – so far – has been surprisingly absent from Age of Wonders 4: vampires. Players can choose the new Vampire Elder ruler type and wield deadly blood magic, which includes transforming recruited heroes into servants that share their earned XP with their vampiric sire.
The Tome of Blood Rite, Tome of Torment, and Tome of the Crimson Reign are filled with fresh units, spells, and buildings that will let players live out all of their vampire power fantasies. The DLC will also bring a new story realm, additional Ancient Wonders, and a new landmark to the table.
In total, Expansion Pass 3 will consist of the following elements:
- Cosmic Wanderer – cosmetic pack; immediate unlock
- Thrones of Blood – ruler pack; available on November 11, 2025
- Rise from Ruin – culture pack; available in Q1 2026
- Secrets of the Archmages – story pack; available in Q2 2026
Rise from Ruin will introduce the Nomad Culture and enable players to unearth – and unleash – the power of ancient magic. Secrets of the Archmages will bring new story realms into the game, which will be great for players enjoying a more campaign-like experience. All packs will add new Tomes of Magic and neutral units to the game, expanding its overall scope on top of their areas of speciality.
