First Ara: History Untold DLC, Untold Scenarios, announced for June 2025

It’s been a little quiet around Oxide Games’ and Microsoft’s turn-based strategy game, Ara: History Untold, but that’s not all too surprising with Civilization 7 sucking up all the attention. Now that the dust around Firaxis’ genre kingpin has settled, the developers have announced upcoming content for the game released in 2024 as well as a change in management.
Though Oxide will continue as developer and Microsoft as publisher, Stardock Entertainment has been added into the mix to oversee the production management of the game. Stardock is experienced when it comes to the strategy genre and has been involved with the development of Ara since before its release. Under this new aegis, the first paid DLC for the game, Untold Scenarios, is set to come to PC in June 2025.
Untold Scenarios will add a scenario system to the game and contain several premade missions on top of bringing new maps, events, amenities, and technologies to the table. Scenarios will be a potent tool for modders as well.
Before and after the DLC’s release, several free updates are planned. In May 2025, Oxide will implement an overhaul to warfare, a general balancing pass, performance optimizations, a new Earth map, the living strategy map, and changes to the AI that should improve its settlement behavior.
Alongside the DLC in June 2025, Version 1.4 will update the economy manager, add multiplayer arena maps, do work on AI economy and diplomacy, and get performance improved further.
During the summer, the developers are planning for Version 2.0. It will bring a design update, improve the user experience, an influence system, unique units for nations, another warfare pass, and distinct AI personalities.
“With our decades of experience in delivering high quality strategy games, Stardock is uniquely equipped to lead development on future content for Ara: History Untold,” commented Brad Wardell, who serves as CEO of both Stardock Entertainment and Oxide Games. “By listening closely to players, we’ll elevate the game’s history-defining potential for players everywhere.”
