Arc Raiders could move beyond Italy for future maps
By Kirk McKeand

From your base in the underground city of Speranza, Arc Raiders will allow you to explore various locations across the topside wasteland that was once Italy. But Embark Studios has already told us there’s a ten year plan for Arc Raiders, so there’s a chance the game takes us to other places around the world in time.
“The world has moved on from whatever it used to be,” executive producer Aleksander Grøndal says. “The raiders are rediscovering their world, because they lost a lot of the knowledge about what happened in the world itself. So it makes sense for the raiders to try to figure out what else is out there and see what the world is all about.
“The Rust Belt is the location where the game takes place, and you'll see that after a while we move to new locations as the story unfolds, and maybe at some point we move beyond that. It's certainly part of what we could explore. We haven't made any commitments on that part just yet, but it's certainly within the IP. If you're saying, ‘there's a massive world out there, what is going on?’ Yeah, I think there's an interest in figuring it out for the raiders.”
While there’s already plenty of variety in the launch maps, moving the action geographically across Europe could allow the devs to experiment in a range of biomes and locales, which expands the lore, allows them to naturally introduce new enemy types, and gives us easy access to different weather conditions and vistas.
It’s something to think about while we learn Dam Battleground, Spaceport, Buried City, and Blue Gate at launch on October 30.
For more, Embark recently spoke about its plans for voluntary wipes in Arc Raiders.
