BattleBit Remastered has posted a 16-second sign of life after over a year of silence

The 2023 breakout shooter isn’t as dead as many thought.

There was a noticeable lull in the first-person shooter genre in 2023 and indie game BattleBit Remastered managed to fill the vacuum, attracting close to 100,000 concurrent players every day at the peak of its popularity.

However, developer SgtOkiDoki failed to capitalize on the unique opportunity. The lightning it caught escaped the bottle. After posting an ambitious content roadmap for 2024 towards the end of 2023, the developer fell into silence — and remained quiet throughout the entire year. BattleBit saw not a single update in the 1.5 years since and players have largely moved on.

Today, a good weekend still sees 1,000 players dive into the virtual combat action of the game — a number of users that’s barely enough to completely fill four 254-player lobbies in this pixel-styled take on Battlefield.

On June 15, 2025, however, the BattleBit Remastered YouTube channel posted a 16-second video with gameplay clips, its description only stating “soon” with a trademark symbol attached to the word.

Concrete information about what might be next for the game is not given, but old fans are cautiously excited nonetheless — it’s a sign of life, at least.
