Chaos Zero Nightmare, dubbed the anime version of Darkest Dungeon, will launch on October 22, 2025, for PC, iOS, and Android. Ahead of release, game director Kim Hyung Suk shared a message with fans to manage some of the expectations around the highly-anticipated game — especially important following the rather disastrous launch of fellow gacha game Stella Sora a couple of days ago.

Kim stated that the team got a lot of feedback about the story having a lighter tone than thought and there not being enough story content during the game’s limited test. He added that the team has taken this feedback to heart and was already working on solutions that will come into play in future updates, such as the creation of more Trauma Code, Messenger, and Excursion stories, which are focusing on certain characters and show various sides of their personalities.

In regard to the main story, Kim promised that “it will gradually lead you to uncover darker and more unsettling truths as the narrative progresses.”

While the tone may not be as dark as players were hoping for at the beginning, it seems like the team will take it into that direction going forward.

CZN’s grimdark undertones have been generating a lot of interest in the turn-based RPG, which will be available tomorrow. A pre-load phase for the title is currently underway across platforms.
