COD Black Ops 7 open beta date and details revealed
By Marco Wutz

Microsoft has revealed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will be available to try out during an open beta in October 2025. The test will kick off on October 2 for everyone pre-ordering the title and then become accessible for anyone else on October 5. A trio of skins – one of which will unlock immediately upon purchase for Black Ops 6 – are obtainable through pre-ordering as well.
Black Ops 7 will take place in 2035 and feature David Mason as the leader of a JSOC force. In a mission to the Mediterranean, he uncovers a plot that – what else? – threatens to plunge the entire world into chaos and conflict. Japan has been confirmed as another location featured in the story. The campaign will be playable solo as well as in co-op mode.
Multiplayer will feature 16 6v6 maps and two 20v20 maps at launch, including battlegrounds in Tokyo and Alaska. A refined Omnimovement system returns in Black Ops 7. Zombies, too, has been confirmed to be included.
An earlier leak suggested that Black Ops 7 will be released on November 14, 2025, and this appears to be correct: The Xbox store’s disclaimers include a note that tells players to claim pre-order rewards by November 14, 2026. Black Ops 7 will also run an anti-cheat software that requires secure boot, similar to Battlefield 6.
