Commander Quest adds Genghis Khan in roguelike deckbuilder’s latest update

Plus a mechanical rework of the dwarves.

Flyway Games has published a free update for its popular roguelike deckbuilder Commander Quest on June 13, 2025, which added none other than Genghis Khan to the game — and his fantastical alter ego, Temujin Doombeard.

The greatest of all the Mongolian Khans joins the likes of Richard the Lionheart and Zhuge Liang in this fantastic mix of roguelike deckbuilder and auto-battler, which has seen positive reception upon its release on Steam and is being supported by KRAFTON as a publisher.

Genghis has the ultimate comeback mechanic: If he’s taken damage for three or more turns – and survived the onslaught, naturally – he can permanently sacrifice a card from his deck to triumph in the ongoing battle. A desperate move that can completely wreck your deck, but in some cases that will be a sacrifice worth making.

Being renowned for his command of horse archers, he has ways to buff his ranged troops.

Along with the arrival of a new commander comes a rework of the dwarves faction. Some of its key units were assigned the brand-new Mechanical unit-type and several new cards of this type – or that interact with this type – have been added to the game along with new relics. This will give the dwarves a new feel and playstyle options.

Commander Quest is also taking part in the current publisher sale by KRAFTON on Steam, so players can dive in with a 20% discount.
