Hideo Kojima is living the dream by putting his V-Tuber Oshi into Death Stranding 2
By Marco Wutz

Hideo Kojima loves to be involved with Hollywood celebrities and put them into his games, but the latest guest star revealed to have a small appearance in the upcoming Death Stranding 2 somewhat falls out of that pattern by virtue of being a V-Tuber — well, not any V-Tuber: Usada Pekora from Hololive is one of the most recognizable representatives of the category and can boast around 2.7 million subscribers on YouTube.
She’s become a massive hit in Japan since she debuted and she’s been acknowledged outside of her home country as well, becoming a Best Streamer nominee at The Game Awards 2024, though she didn’t take home the award.
Kojima, too, has fallen for the rabbit war criminal and even invited her to Kojima Productions a couple months ago — with a purpose, as we now know.
Gamers worldwide might expect some more Hololive exposure at a big showcase this year, as Geoff Keighley, the organizer of The Game Awards, visited the group’s parent company, Cover Corporation.
Cover has already published several indie games using characters from Hololive and is working on its own video game starring its V-Tubers in an effort to leverage its IP. Cameos in big games have become something of a common occurence for the group's members (previous examples include Sonic Frontiers and Earth Defense Force), though Pekora appearing in DS2 might well be the biggest one yet.
