Age of Mythology meets Per Aspera in upcoming PC game Demiurgos
By Marco Wutz

The creators of terraforming game Per Aspera are back with something exciting: Demiurgos is a god game that takes aspects from Tlön Industries’ previous game and blends them with the likes of Black & White and Age of Mythology for a more strategic twist on the genre.
Players can take control of deities such as Anubis, Marduk, Mars, Loki, and Poseidon to play a divine match of chess against various rival gods. Orchestrated by the enigmatic, cosmic game master Demiurgos, this grand showdown transforms the world into your game board with the inhabitants being mere pawns to fulfill your objectives. The ultimate goal is to win the divine game by claiming Celestial Titles — victory points obtainable by completing fulfilling special conditions.
Demiurgos is a real-time game, though you can pause it at any point in a single-player match, and has the full array of god game powers you know and love: Help your followers by bringing bountiful harvests and creating lush forests and undermine your rivals by unleashing storms and earthquakes against their loyalists — or steal their worshippers by showing them how much more merciful and benevolent you are.
As these rivalries play out, cities and factions change hands, islands sink beneath the waves, and new mountain ranges split the earth. Ultimately, the board will tell the unique story of each match, be it in single-player against the AI or online against human opponents.
Naturally, each deity comes with their own powers and playstyle. Players may also choose to follow a light or a dark path, depending on how they use their abilities.
“At Tlön Industries we’re big fans of both god games and real-time strategy games and thought it would feel suitably epic to mix the two — and thus Demiurgos was born,” summed up Javier Otaegui, the game director. “Much like most mythological pantheons, in Demiurgos humans are insignificant puppets while petty gods pull the strings, manipulating the very foundations of our existence for their own selfish whims. Only in Demiurgos, we get to roleplay as them!”
A release date has not been revealed, but Demiurgos has been confirmed to come to PC.
