Destiny 2: Renegades release date announced for PC, PS5, and Xbox

Bungie has announced that Destiny 2: Renegades will be released on December 2, 2025, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

Renegades is the next part of the game’s ongoing Fate Saga and will be inspired by Star Wars in regards to storytelling, locations, and other content. In contrast to the previously introduced Star Wars cosmetics, however, this won’t be a real crossover — it’s more like Bungie ordered some off-brand version of the setting to keep it legally distinct, which definitely looks a bit jarring in an era where every intellectual property can simply show up anywhere, anytime without pretenses.

The expansion is set to bring a fresh game mode, new characters, and an additional social hub to the table. Blasters from Star Wars are on the menu as a new weapon archetype. They siphon the energy needed to shoot directly from players’ reserves, though the risk of overheating is still going to limit their rate of fire, so careful heat management is needed to use them.

In the Lawless Frontier mode, missions largely revolve around typical underworld work, so stuff like smuggling and bounty hunting.

Alongside the announcement of Renegades, Bungie released a major update for Destiny 2. The Ash & Iron update brought back the Plaguelands and added Reclaim missions for three players. Additional content drops are planned for September and October, including a raid.
