Myrkur Games and Deep Silver have announced that Echoes of the End, the studio’s debut title, will be released for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S later this summer.

The Icelandic developer has been working on the game since 2021 and aims to tell a story of trust, sacrifice, and redemption in this single-player fantasy epic.

In Echoes of the End, players will follow Ryn, who commands powerful – but volatile – magical abilities, on her journey to rescue her brother from the fangs of a brutal empire. She teams up with the haunted scholar Abram Finlay and uncovers a conspiracy with the potential to reignite an ancient conflict and plunge the entire world of Aema into a devastating war.

Built on Unreal Engine 5, the game uses full performance motion capture tech to bring life to its characters. Among the cast members are Aldís Amah Hamilton (Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2), who voices protagonist Ryn, and Karl Ágúst Úlfsson, who plays Abram.

Players must take on humans and monsters alike in combat, fusing fast-paced swordplay with magical powers. Outside of battle, Ryn’s abilities come in handy to solve puzzles and overcome obstacles — time and gravity are both hers to manipulate.

A soundtrack from composer Viktor Ingi Guðmundsson accompanies the narrative and action — and completes the picture of a game steeped in Icelandic influences.
