Elden Ring Nightreign director promises more variety and clarity in final version

Elden Ring Nightreign is coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on May 30, 2025, and game director Junya Ishizaki has provided some details on the changes that will be made to the final version of the game following its network test.
Speaking to the PS Blog, Ishizaki promised that Nightreign would offer more variety in the final version, which will force players to adapt their strategies on the fly. During the network test, not all options that will be available at launch were accessible, leading to a bit of a false impression.
“Your initial strategy may be effective for a while, but the bosses will gradually evolve and your tactics will no longer be viable, forcing you to rethink your approach,” the game director said. “We intentionally designed the game so that you’ll need to adapt and evolve your strategies along with the changes that happen in the game.”
There was some criticism regarding the visual clarity of the game as well, as some players felt confused by what their characters could do and what goals they should pursue in a match.
In response to this feedback, FromSoftware “made some changes so that information was conveyed more clearly to players during gameplay,” Ishizaki said.
Difficulty is another aspect that was finetuned following the test with Gladius being named as an example. This particular Nightlord will be stronger at launch than he was during the test, so users better not underestimate him.
