CCP Games executes the video game equivalent of the Obama medal meme with an EVE crossover event
By Marco Wutz

CCP Games is getting ready to surpass a major milestone in its strategy around the universe of EVE: Starting on September 16, 2025, the first-ever crossover event between EVE Online and EVE Vanguard will kick off.
Unlike other examples of companies starting a collaboration between two of their own games, such as Shift Up’s crossover between Stellar Blade and Goddess of Victory: Nikke, this event will have in-game ramifications in both titles.
Titled Operation Nemesis, the event will allow players in EVE Vanguard to complete missions, which will then reveal high-value convoys in EVE Online that can be intercepted and looted — the goal from CCP here is to create some real engagement between both titles, which is all the more effective due to the riches of these convoys being substantial enough to influence EVE Online’s in-game economy.
Being able to influence galaxy-scale events as a lone grunt on the ground is one of the power fantasies CCP wanted to deliver with Vanguard and its integration into Online. Operation Nemesis will be the first real test of the formula for the studio — though the success of Helldivers 2 shows that the recipe itself is a potent one. The event will last until October 3, 2025.
Ahead of the crossover event, a major update has been released for EVE Online today. The update is set to shift the balance of ship combat, revitalizing neglected types and designs such as ships that focus on armor. CCP hopes to shake up the fleet combat meta with these changes.
Exploration is on the agenda as well: Players will encounter more wormhole connections and can engage with a refreshed small-scale encounter system for more gameplay variety. For the Machiavellian playerbase of the game, another new feature will be especially interesting. Players can post official bounties or accept mercenary contracts via the Freelance system now.
